Workout Wednesday 2.7.18

It's the first week in a long while where my hip no longer hurts! Yay!

I've now been able to do the full three mile stretch of our park without any hip pain, which is an immense relief to me and lets me know that we are at least making progress! Will I be running any time soon? I'm not planning on it. I don't want to take a step back when I feel like I'm moving forward. But I am enjoying the walks. I get to listen to the Be Our Guest Podcast with my new airpods and I'm loving the Bob stroller we have. Reagan does too. It's nice to go over bumps and not feel like we are in a vibrating chair!

However, the last couple weeks have been hard as far as motivation. It's tough to keep going when you feel like you can't do what you used to do pre-baby. Through the Be Our Guest Podcast, I kept hearing about this running team called the "Lizards" and how encouraging they were on Facebook. I was skeptical. After all, I'm a part of a couple of different running groups on Facebook and while people are nice, there didn't seem to be a ton of interaction. But at this point, I was willing to try anything and so I "applied" to join.

Not only did they add me pretty quick, I got a personal message from one of the admins to introduce myself on the page and let people know what my goals were. So, I did. I talked about the struggles of trying to get back post baby and how I was slowly making my comeback.

I got so many people that liked and commented! It was so strange to me. If I would have posted the same thing on my personal page, I might have received a couple of likes and well wishes. But in this group, I had over 50 likes and 20 comments all saying either, "Welcome!" or "You can do it!" The best ones were other moms saying that they had experienced the same thing and had come back to running even stronger than before baby. Their encouragement on not only my post, but on other people's posts had been a daily encouragement for me as I have tried to just keep moving forward and maintain consistency in my workouts.

Maybe you are also in a rut or a struggle with your weight loss or fitness journey. I encourage you to either find in person or online friends that can cheer you on when you want to quit. I have been blessed with both and I can honestly say, right now I'm "gettin' by with a little help from my friends."
